Facts about IPA

FROM BEER TO INDIAN PALE ALE

Beer

Barley is malted and roasted into different types of malt.
The malt is mashed and converted into wort.
The wort is boiled and hops are added.
It then ferments and then alcohol is formed.
The beer is then transferred to a keg, bottle or can.

Ale

The wort ferments under higher temperature.
A thick yeast foam forms at the top of the fermenter,
which gave rise to the concept top-fermenting.

Pale Ale
Light barley malt is usually used here.
The alcohol content is normally between 4% and 6%.

Indian Pale Ale

Hot-fermented and top-fermented beer as produced
with extra hops and malt.
The hops give the beer clear bitterness and aroma, while the malt gives fullness.
Often an alcohol content above 6% due to high sugar content.
